There is a lot to recommend:
-Lovely outdoor scenery
-Strong portrayal of Kelly by Clint
-Fine music
-Sturdy direction
-John Russell appears somewhat convincing as the Chief of the warring tribe
-Oates & Akins always a pleasure as supporting co-stars
-Ray Danton does a nice turn as a vicious & rappacious Indian !
-you fill in the rest ?
...in retrospect the scenery trumps all others !
I thought the music was inappropriate in several scenes and belonged in a comedy or farce.
The script was lame. Some of the lines were ridiculous even for westerns of the television era.
Hardly a prop animal trap to be seen. No wild animals.
Extras casting: Indians were smaller than these white guy muscle gym types.
I was hoping for more plot and action like in the book.
5 out of 10 for me
Not a classic to be sure but they don't make'em like this no'mo;
shareAnother film with actors from WB's TV western/detective shows.
Easy watching 1 won't be bored.
