This is practically unwatchable because of the ridiculous overacting and outrageous mistakes, like the statement about LSD "It's not a drug, it's an acid." and the good doctor's proclamation that hair and fingernails continue to grow after death. And are we supposed to believe that the doc had time to rig up the apartment with all those creepy goings on in order to scare Ollie's wife? Or was she supposed to have been hallucinating all that crap from the LSD he gave her? Either way a crock of *beep* Vincent Price is another of those actors whose appeal I just don't understand. He's creepy, wooden, stilted, and just plain bad.

William Castle would be proud of the fact that you are still talking about his movie over 50 years later, no matter what you say about it, his only regret is he didn't get fifty cents from you when you saw it.

I'm reminded that when I went to movies as a kid in the '50s (and early '60s), matinee tickets for kids were $.25 to $.35 (depending on the theater). Major first-run movies could reach $.50, and huge spectacles like The Ten Commandments, Ben-Hur and Spartacus required me to dig deep for as much as $2.00.

Quite being such a downer.
This movie was fun and not to be taken seriously.
And I think Vincent Price is pretty much perfect in just about anything he does.

I was 15 in 1964 and worked as an usher/ticket taker. .25 for kids, .75 adults. And this is a GREAT Castle movie!

I love watching "Bad" movies. The 'So bad they're good' ones.
I was pleasantly surprised at how good this movie is.
Well written and fairly well acted, combined with the totally unexpected, shocking use of color, added an air of class to what otherwise would have been an unremarkable B Movie. Great images. The script kept me guessing just who the bad guy really was (beside the Tingler, of course).

The little things like strings on the hatchet and a rubber bug simply must be Overlooked in low budget fun such as this. To act as if it were all too real calls not only for decent acting chops, but also a sense not taking yourself as seriously as the OP.
Schlock like the Tingler escaping into the Theater - the one you were in? - combined with blacking out the screen and vibrating your chair is something I wish I could have enjoyed myself.

You still can, but you have to go to Disney World!

Please use the elevator, the stairs are currently stuck between floors

Your post is almost unreadable for the same reason. How can you claim to have watched a movie, yet have no clue what happened to the wife, when it was explained at least twice?

In other words, you (the OP) hate fun.

This film was so enjoyable and so much fun. I'm only 36, this isn't an OAP talking.

I have so much fun with films like this. I recently watched Joe Dante's Matinee and it's the perfect tribute to a legend like William Castle.
