Remake?

That would be impossible today wouldn't it? A few things were better back then but certainly NOT for women! I was a teenager in the late 70s and early 80s. Seems like a happy medium between then and NOW.

I would hope they wouldn't. They would just destroy it and probably make it into some raunchy teen sex comedy.

The remake would be trashy.

Back then, things were left to the imagination. Now, they would trash it up.

I was 7 in 1959. I am glad I was not adult. The 1950s were a horrible time for women!

They were a terrible time for anyone who wasn't white, male, Christian and rich.

I agree; this couldn't be remade. I can't imagine what issues would have to be at stake.

It would have to be a 'period piece', a costume drama. Taking place back in the mists of time.

Oh gosh, I think that'd be the worst thing they could do if they were ever to remake this film--hopefully they never will though. So many period pieces (especially when they're about the 1950s) share a non-conformity theme and always dramatize how serious a toll the 1950s had on women (usually mentally). I know it wasn't an easy decade for women, but movies always make it seem like a majority of housewives then suffered from depression, were on the brink of snapping, wanted to commit suicide, &c.
*sigh* I'd rather they just never remake this; but if they do, they'll ruin it. Like another poster said, they'll just make it a highly inappropriate, raunchy comedy, and they'd probably just spend a lot of time mocking the original and/or people who have conservative views on sex.

Why did I write? Because I found life unsatisfactory.
