Was watching ASP last night on TCM, and I had to change the channel for a few minutes. When I came back, Molly and Johnny met outside a church where it looked like a wedding was getting ready to start. Whose wedding was it? I thought it might be his mother's & her father's, but they got married a few scenes later by themselves at a different church in a bare-bones ceremony.

Just a random wedding, they happened to choose to meet there, I think. I watched it last night too for the 1st time, but can't be sure I caught every second, so I could be wrong.

In the previous scene, Johnny had called Molly asking to meet up after being apart for months, and Molly suggests they meet up at a local church, unaware of the fact that a wedding was planned for that day. She thinks they wouldn't be seen there of all places, but end up being discovered by a gossipy girl from her class and her mother. We're never told who's wedding they interrupt though; it just takes place for character and plot development purposes.
Why did I write? Because I found life unsatisfactory.
