Richard Egan in Capital

I really liked the soap Capital back in the day, Richard was really good as Sam Clegg.

Egan had a nomination from the Soap Opera Digest Awards for best supporting actor in 1986, the year before he died. Not much of an award to be nominated for, but his only such recognition for his acting. By all accounts Richard Egan was an extremely nice guy, good family man and a hard worker, but he was somewhat stiff and limited in his acting range. Still, he was capable enough, and it's sad that, after a successful run in the 50s, his film career abruptly imploded after 1960, forcing him ultimately to seek work in regional dinner theater, a few cheap exploitation movies and TV soap operas.
