Still love this movie and the music and Dorothy McQuire but it is so dated and silly.

Yeah the premise very good but the material .... good grief. Arthur Kennedy is also a great pro and the cast very strong but couldn't overcome that script.

Somewhat similar to "Picnic" in that it had the music and teriffic acting but the stories were tough to take. "Picnic" does the better job.

Chains, my baby's got me wrapped up in chains.

This was set in the 50's and that's how the "morality" was. This movie could never be made today.

For sure. Picnic was a better job of it. But gosh, some future Bill Holden's character had for him..."bellhop" sheesh.
