The Straightt Men: A GREAT Send Off

As a delicious setting for all the nuttiness you get George Raft playing the PERFECT George Raft gangster and the great Pat O'Brien doing his tough Irish cop to perfection for the last time. Both of them look great. There's a half dozen other old-timers in small parts if you are alert. Nehemiah Persoff did a comic imitation of Mussolini at parties etc. for years - Billy Wilder had him do Little Bonaparte exactly the same way.
And if you vaguely recognize Sweet Sue, that is Joan Shawlee who played 'Pickles', Buddy Sorrell's wife in the Dick Van Dyke Show.

I remember her as Pickles... always the butt (ahem) of Buddy's jokes. Well, not as much as Mel Cooley...

Mel (bursting into Rob, Sally & Buddy's office:) Well, what've you got for me?

Buddy: Hatred.
