Best comedy ever?
I mean, it's my favorite comedy of all time so I'll be a bit biast, but I truly believe this is one of, if not the best comedy ever.

shareI rate it 10/10, but it's not my favorite comedy.
I think the best comedy is The Lady Vanishes (1938). I saw it for the first time, last year, and I loved it. I rate it 10/10 and it's my 4th favorite movie. It's also my favorite movie of the 1930's. I got the DVD for Christmas, last year.
Volker Flenske: (While torturing David) I don't know why you're doing this to yourself!
I agree ... 1) Some like It Hot ... 2) Modern Times ... 3) The Life Of Brian
But you ARE Blanche ... and I AM.
It's on a very short list, top 5 or 10 for me. I'd probably rate a handful of comedies above it: The Lady Eve, Hail the Conquering Hero, His Girl Friday, Bringing Up Baby. Maybe Twentieth Century and Tootsie.
shareThis, My Man Godfrey, and Bringing Up Baby.
shareToo many venerable and timeless comedies for me to legitimately rank, but I agree with your sentiment. How anyone can not adore this movie is incomprehensible. I'd say it is among my list of best comedies ever. Beats about 95% of the garbage being peddled as comedy since the 90s.

Best Comedy Ever? One word answer - YES! I took my 2 youngest, high school teens, to see Some Like It Hot. At first they were OMG-it's in black & white! Within minutes there were laughing so hard. The train car sleeper "surprize party" had my son doubled over in laughter. I was lucky enough to visit the Coronado hotel 2 yrs ago - nice memorabelia on site & they serve blackberry mojitos on the beach!
shareYes, I agree, if fact I just saw the movie which I haven't seen in many years. It still stands up as a great movie. Jmo
shareIt's up there.
I also love Arthur and 9 to 5. Most people don't think of the late seventies/ early eighties when they think of comedies, but I love these two movies. I can still quote Arthur from the first time I saw it. I've seen it many times. In the top of the list are The Thin Man, The Lady Eve, and Born Yesterday. Loy, Stanwyck and Holliday were geniuses.
I've seen this movie a dozen or more times, and never get tired of it. It is one of the top comedies of all time in my opinion! "Well, nobody is perfect." hahahaha
