Why does Prince Phillip...

Stop talking halfway through the movie? My fiancée pointed this out to me recently. Throughout the lead-up to his battle with Maleficent all the way to The End, he says nothing. Doesn't say "giddy up" to the horse, yell in terror/pain...he doesn't utter one peep. What happened? Did the actor move on to another project?

Just rewatched this last night with my daughter and I thought the same thing! It was really weird how he was silent for the second part of the movie...especially since his role is so substantial in it.

Well, that part of the movie is very visual, the action tells the story. During the fairy rescue/Phillip battling the dragon sequence there is NO dialogue, well, except for Maleficent. They let the action tell the story, and perhaps "giddy-up" or "Aaarughhh" would have detracted.

I'd heard the rumor that his voice actor had a falling out with the studio. Rather than replace him, they just kept him (and everyone else but the fairies and Meleficent it seems) silent for the rest of the film.

There just might be something to that. Bill Shirley (voice of Phillip) was not on the original 1959 soundtrack album, either. Though, on the back of the LP he is credited, it's someone else doing the singing. (However,Shirley's voice WAS restored when the soundtrack made it to CD.)
