For the first time. I can safely say that I do not like this movie. I like to think ive got a broad taste in movies, but this film, in my opinion, had very little going for it. It's tedious and predictable. The characters have very little going for them (can not stand Stumpy.., I may have got his name wrong). And while many here claim its John Wayne's best performance it doesn't make the film.

Perhaps your habit of posting on internet message boards whilst in the middle of watching a film explains your inability to enjoy said film. As important as your OPINION no doubt is I think we could have all waited until you finished watching and given the movie a fair chance.
