Deguello from Rio Bravo

What I want to know is what group played the "Deguello" song in Rio Bravo? Their version was beautiful. Does anyone know?

reply

I have no real knowledge of this but if I had to guess, I'd say it was performed by musicians from the same studio orchestra that performed the score.

Thanks, cwente2, I will look that up and see if I can find their version. Thank you for letting me know. I really appreciate that.

reply

Thank you, but remember it's just a guess.

I can't improve on the answer you got but want to take this chance to observe that while "Rio Bravo" was filming Wayne's upcoming pet project of "The Alamo" was well known publicly. It has been said that Hawks, with his penchant for in-jokes and in-references, would not have thought of the Deguello/Alamo device if "The Alamo" had not been on the horizon.

It certainly fits. Thanks

There was a rumor that the solo was played by Rafael Mendez.

Here is a soundtrack for the movie

It's available and it's around (cough cough) if you know where to look :)

Hi.
How can I find more Mexican music like Deguello? Is there any certain band or musician?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Don't forget, this is not the historical Deguello that was played at the Alamo. This film's version was composed by Dimitri Tiomkin, and was a completely original work, not similar in any way to the original Deguello that was played at the Alamo.
