A small-town sheriff helps out an old friend by assisting him in the arrest of a local ranch owner's brother. Outnumbered and outgunned, he enlists the help of a ragtag group of misfits, including a drunk and an inexperienced young gunfighter, in an effort to keep the rancher's gang from breaking the outlaw out of the town jail.
