Fill your hand you son of a bitch!
Whats funny is that as I'm watching this movie here as I type, 'Assault on Precinct 13' is on another channel.
I stated watching it (Assault on Precinct 13) having never seen it before, got bored and switched to this.
This movie is and will always be, on my list of all time favorite flicks - but I've seen it so many times since I figured I'd try something else tonight ...nope.
I still remember seeing this for the 1st time, as a little kid, back in the early 60s at the drive in movies with my family and my cousins in the wagon parked next to us. This was great outdoors on a warm summer evening
The slow pacing others complain about, for me, is what made the movie. The western was everything back then - TV was filled with them and us boys loved playing cowboys with our 6 shooter cap guns. The pace gave a feel of hanging out with the our hero' The Duke' and stars like Martin and Nelson were the 'bridge' between our fathers silver screen western heroes and us kids heroes. The nostalgia of it all keeps me from being able to evaluate it fairly/objectively. Ya kinda had to be there ...
As to the music ... I've been into everything from the Beatles and the Stones to Zep then the Pistols and Nirvana - but still, I always sing along and whistle with Dean and Ricky - every time !! 'They were the best of times, they were the worst of times ...'. Sometimes I wonder ...nah (?).
