Chance doesn't pursue Pat Wheeler's killer. Why not?

He did and "Dude" shot Wheelers killer when he was hiding in the loft of the bar.

Clearly you fell asleep right after Wheeler got killed and woke up 10 minutes later. Go back and watch the part you missed.
