Were the phone call scenes widescreen on TV?


Apparently when Airport aired the phone scenes were edited altogether full screen so you don't see two half heads, how was this film edited to account for all three actors in some scenes in the phone conversations? Was it pan and scanned or widescreen during those bits?

Depends on how old the transfer was. The older versions would try to pan and scan as best they could in those scenes. More recent versions would pull out the image into letterbox.

Thank you very much for the link, I found it very interesting and they managed to pull it off very well mostly (that middle scene had way too many cuts between the daughters, wife and husband though ).
