On the second date between Brad and Jan, Brad brings her up to the hotel room he is supposedly staying in as Rex from Texas. Did Brad actually pay what must have been an exhobirtant for one night's stay at a luxury suite in Manhattan, only to use the room for five minutes to prove to Jan that he was a tourist? Even back in 1959, rates for even cheap hotels in Manhattan must have been outrageous, so this dude must have really been determined! Yeah, I guess Doris had that effect on men.

Yeah, I'd say he was determined. But didn't you also get the impression he was pretty rich? That looked like a nice bachelor pad, and he's willing to waste money on hiring Jan to decorate his apartment at the end, so he must have money to blow.

Totally easy to believe and follow. It's sad to note that I actually know of people who do things like this to impress a woman. Pretty much what we people do in pursuit of sex is all to attract the opposite sex, so spending money so we can fan our feathers in the guise of an expensive car or a sexy dress and heels,....it all boils down to the same sort of stuff.

I found it easy to believe that "Rex" went that far. And let's be honest, it IS Doris Day after all. I'd move mountains for that lady if I could!
