Last scene similar to 'Heat'

If you've seen the last few minutes of this movie you may note how similar it is to "Heat"'s infamous finale. The shadows, the chase, etc. The setting is different, but boy it looks similar. "Heat" is a much much better movie though.

Almost as good as "Grave Diggers from Outer Space."

I thought that the ending was very similar to "White Heat" 1949...

It was all a homage to the original 1932 version starring and directed by Irving Pichel. Charmed I'm sure.

They used the same explosions.

He's referring to White Heat with Cagney.

Also resembles a later production, Hell in the Pacific, in which two implacable Others, two mirror images reminiscent of matter and antimatter, collide, resulting in their own annihilation.

Haven't seen this film yet (although I plan on seeing it tomorrow as part of a Robert Wise retropsective put on by the KC Library) so I can't yet comment on the Heat comparison. However, in reference to the Heat finale, I always thought that climax at the airport was borrowed from the Bullitt ending, but in Michael Mann's commentary on the Heat dvd, he never mentions Bullitt so maybe the similarities were merely a coincidence or just something that jumped out to me. Anyway, if someone felt the need to reference Heat along with this film, then I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it. Also a big Robert Ryan fan so that alone was enough of a motivator previous to noticing this thread.
