Anyone who disrupts a Mae Barnes performance deserves what's coming to him. Even if he's Harry Belafonte. That's all there is to it.

For me, one of the highlights of this nifty, if flawed, B-noir.

I agree. She was terrific, and she played her part so naturally; it was as if she had no idea she'd be dealing with Bellefonte's character acting out. I've heard of method acting, now I've seen method singing!
