sorry i haven't read the posts above, i just wanna know. when is this dvd going to be released?? i haven't watch it yet. does anyone know any other way to get this movie? i've been looking for it, but still no luck!

reply

As of now, the studio is not planning to release a DVD for this movie (absolutely ridiculous). The video is also out of print, so the only way to get it is to spend a fortune on Ebay or Amazon. Just be sure to look out for bootlegs, because they are quite common.

Two for the Road will be released on DVD on November 1, 2005, and although it is owned by Fox, this might be a good sign that a DVD could come within the next year, especially with the recent releases of Wait Until Dark and How to Steal a Million.

It seems strange that studios would release a movie like "They Call me Bruce" on DVD and not one of cinematic merit that is in higher demand.

walmart.com has listed a DVD release date of 11/08/04 for The Nun's Story. You can pre-order it for $13.00.

reply

I have read that it will appear in DVD format in 31-12-1969 (the year may be typing mistake) from amazon.com. However, region 3 DVD will appear early in 11-11-2005.

I noticed on ebay today that there is a seller purporting to sell The Nun's Story (1959) DVD Sealed. When I queried it with the seller I was told it was officially released by Warner Brothers, not copy or pirate version. If you look at the photograph you can clearly see asian writing on the cover and back of the photo of the DVD. Its location is Korea, need I say more.

reply

I have the Korean DVD here, it is an official release from Warner Home Video, not an illegal copy. The DVD can be found on www.whv.co.kr, which is the Korean webpage of Warner Home Video. The DVD has region 1,2,3,4, so it is suitable for US and European DVD players.

reply

Is the DVD primarily in English or only English subtitles?

reply

The DVD is in English, like all Warner DVDs it is intended for several markets, so the menus are in English, the audio is English and you have a choice of several subtitles.

Anyone after a region 2 copy can find it on hmv.co.uk, it's an eclusive. At the time of writing it's about £16 so I'm going to see if I can get it off ebay.

reply

Hey ladies and gentlemen, just received my Region 2 copy of The Nun's Story this morning, purchased off ebay for £10:99, cheaper than at HMV. I'll either watch it tonight or tomorrow night so I'll get back to you on the tech specs of the disc.
Knowing my luck, a new version replete with extras will be announced tomorrow. C'est la vie.

reply

I only just remembered to get back to this! My copy of The Nun's Story (the HMV-exclusive DVD) is fullscreen, sadly, and the picture quailty is adequate. Not bad, not to the degree that it affects my viewing of the film, but not particularly sharp either.
The audio mix is also fine, not bad not great either.
Great movie as well, really doesn't feel at all like 2 ½ hours.

reply

You can get it at Netflix. The DVD is very good quality.

There IS a DVD out there. I purchased it at Barnes & Noble this summer. I just watched it again last night. What a magnificent film it is. There are not too many bonus features, just trailers and maybe some missing scenes. I usually don't check these out because they are often not too exciting.

The DVD is now available (November 2006) - available inthe UK from HMV stores.
