Question about physical disability

As portrayed in this film, there is a lot of up and downs which takes a certain amount of physical dexterity. Can a physically disabled person, say with a bad back, who cannot handle the rigors, enter any order where allowances are made, or are there orders specifically for such persons?

Good question. I will see what I can find out for you.

Most religious orders required a full physical exam to ascertain that the candidate was fit for the rigors of religious life. I'm not sure if that's the case these days. In my high school days (1960's) I wanted to be a Daughter of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, and they required TWO complete physical examinations from two different doctors to make sure you were in good health. These days, when girls aren't exactly flocking to the convent in droves, it's possible that some orders have relaxed the physical requirements.
