I bet it took a lot of discipline just to ACT in this film


Yowie, all those actresses barely moving, heads bowed, voices subdued, expressions checked, arguments softly put forward, hands always tucked under habits.

It's also interesting to me that in real life, many, many scenes of ceremony and worship of various types were probably stunningly beautiful in their way, and never heard or witnessed by a soul.

Entirely agree. There's a scene where the incoming group see the current sisters in the convent below them (they're in the balcony). The scene was choreographed beautifully - I read in the boards here that there was a ballet troupe acting. The mixture of the shades and the setting are quite awe-inspiring.
