I DVR'ed the movie when it aired and just watched it, thankfully without technical problems.

What was the last thing you saw?

He gets to meet number 15 and you start to wonder if he really is Wellney.

He is so traumatized that he does not remember, so he takes a walk through London all night until he finds himself on the banks of the Thames looking at his reflection.

Then it all comes back.

During the escape, Wellney gets it into his head to kill Sir Mark, and tries to attack him when he is sitting by the edge of the river. He remembers seeing Wellney's face looking over his shoulder at his own, and manages to deflect the blow Welleny intended to crush his skull. They went back and forth fighting and Sir Mark literally pulverized Wellenys' face. The comotion alerted some Germans and he had to flee. When one of them fired his Mauser, Sir Mark caught a round in the hand and it lopped off his finger....by chance, the exact finger that Welleny had missing.

He verified his story by taking the jacket that number 15 was wearing and searching the seam for a amulet that his fiance (now wife) had given him. He found it and this pretty much sealed the deal for everyone, considering that only he (not even Wellney) knew about the amulet.

Interestingly enough, at the end of the film, his accuser congratulated the heck out of him and apologized (that guy HATED Wellney, and the fact that Sir Mark proved that he was the real deal made the guy very apologetic) and Sir Mark was pretty warm towards him. Sir Mark sort of snubbed his own relative who's testimony was sort of damaging to him.

He and Olivia DeHaviland to home happy.

***SPOILERS***

I liked the ending. It was a twist finale for me because all along I thought Dirk No. 1 was an imposter because his finger. Which begs a question. Did they check No. 15's fingers? I didn't hear anything about that being covered at the end.
