It's a great movie but was it a success ?
shareNo, it was planned as the first in a series of Holmes films but no follow-ups were made because of disappointing box-office returns.
Well, many years thereafter, in 1984, Peter Cushing returned as Sherlock Holmes in “The Masks of Death” (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088108). I don’t know if he has done any other Holmes films. “The Hound of the Baskervilles”, however, is a very good film and I am surprised to read that it wasn’t a success.
I don’t know if he has done any other Holmes films.He hasn't, but he did play Holmes in a pretty good BBC TV series, taking over the part from Douglas Wilmer.
