cover of criterion disc question

on the cover of the criterion disc, is that someone's hand on a woman's breast? or am i just mistaken?

reply

You're mistaken, it's the woman's hand on a man's back. it is part of the montage in the beginning. If you saw the film, you'd most likely recognise it instantly.

That's exactly what I thought until I saw the film. I think the cropping and placement may be a purposeful attempt to create this very misperception. :-)

The thing that perplexed me about the cover was the titles and the way they were designed on the Criterion box. They are like names taped onto a file. I don't know if i fully understood this movie. I do not know the significance of shaping the title as it is on a file. Perhaps the dehumanizing of war, like a clinical file being stored away ? Perhaps someone can shed light.
