Great filmmaking


Hiroshima mon amour is a unique gem that really has increased my interest in foreign movies, particularly those from Europe or Asia. I thought the reflective mood and artistic vision of the film was really well executed, and I feel that there aren't really as many movies quite like that made today.

Not just the mood, dialogue, and acting but there are many details like camera position that contribute to the symbolic meaning that reward repeated viewings to discern them (much like L'Avventura)

It was a good approach to have all the flashback scenes in silent as it emphasised the horror of some of these flashbacks. Particually the scenes of Elle imprisoned.

"I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not".
