Not something I used to notice, but I live in a very multicultural city in Canada and now see it everywhere. Most often it's been the inverse, with White Men often courting the most attractive Asian Women because they can (economic power, political status etc.) and it's never been known as a taboo in North America(because White Men can get away with anything.) But as Women are getting more economic and political power the past few decades, they seem to be using freedom of choice much more. Their relationships with Black Males has always seemed to be No.1 for interracial relationships, but now it seems they are finding Asian Males to be their partners faster than ever.
Anyone else notice the trend? Does anyone think it's limited to just certain regions?

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I have not noticed that trend here. You occasionally see it, but it's still rare. It's a subject that interests me, though, because I'm a white woman who prefers Asian men and finds them the most attractive, and that's still not very common here. So I would guess it's still just a regional thing, but I'm sure you'll see it happening in a more widespread way now.
The Asian Man/White Woman coupling is the only reason I watched this movie, actually. When it was revealed that they were both married, though, it ruined the whole thing for me. Yuck.
Interesting observations about San Francisco. I would have thought Pacific Coast cities like S.F. and Vancouver, you would see it most often due to the high Asian population. In Canada, the Chinese are our most populous minority group.
Others regions in the world where AMWF seems prevalent are France(perhaps due to the legacy of Vietnam colonialism; French women seem naturally attracted to Asians) and the border regions of Russia & China. Those two countries have contrasting problems: China has too many men, Russia too many women - and Russian men have created a rep about themselves for being alcoholic & impotent. So couples in this region are solving their marriage problem by marrying across the border!

That made me laugh. I imagine you looking for a generic romantic comedy, only to stumble upon one of the most important artistic film of all time!
And what a petty reason to dislike a movie!... Wow.
