Mistake? And Swim suits?

When Gidget wanted a surf board, and she asked Stinky how much they cost, he said the cheapest one was $25. She then said "I only have $4.50 left from my allowance."

She later tells her dad that for a surf board, she needs $21.50.

21.50 + 4.50 = $26

What's the extra dollar for? I think it's a mistake. What do you think?

Also...I LOVE the bathing suits from this era. More coverage, and I think they are super cute lines. Anyone know a store (preferably a national chain) that sells retry-style bathing suits?

Ha-Ha-Ha! I always wondered why she said $21.50 also.....

For some great looking swimsuits plus retro style clothing, that enhances the body, and I know is good quality, go to Speigal or Newport News.com, get the number from on line and have them send you the catalogs, and don't buy until they promise you 20% off your whole order. I have never once paid full price for any order. It's worth it. Oh, if you order their shoes go down 1/2 a size, they run slightly larger than they look. Good Luck, Catherine

haha the $21.50 thing bothers me every time i watch the movie. you'd think they could do a little bit of simple math lol
i think it's a mistake. they normally don't mention things like tax, like someone else said, plus i doubt stinky charges tax :P

I thought that wad strange, too. I also wondered how she suddenly had $20 to hire Hot Shot to pretend to be her date.
