powerful scene between former lovers
I particularly liked the scene between Lady and Carol Cutrere's brother David. Whereas I didn't know beforehand that there was a connection between them, the confrontation and revelation makes this one of the best scenes in the film. The character of David (engagingly played by John Baragrey) is given some real depth and explanation here. Although he's achieved a high place of stature in Two Rivers County, he's racked by regret and sorrow, which Lady's proclamation only serves to make worse. And we get to understand how he and Lady came to be in their seperate hells. Their mutual heartbreak is wrenchingly palpable.
