This film is a headache in motion. Who the @#*# thinks this is authentic?? The set design is ludicrous...the acting (aside from Brando) unbearable...and the direction is for stage, not screen. I just can't believe it rated as highly as it did.

I love most anything Brando is in, but I found impossible to finish this film...it was a hodgepodge of thrown together characters, very thin plot, and horrible acting.

Agreeance. I appreciate that it was ahead of its time in many ways, but boy was it overwrought!

I have to agree. I love Tennessee Williams but this is the worst thing of his I have watched. I suppose there is a deeper meaning to it that I fail to grasp.

At times I felt like I was watching a parody of a Tennessee Williams film. Really poor movie, apart from some of the performances (Magnani and Stapleton).
