I remember being really little and seeing a movie in theater that sounds like it has a similar plot to this. I remember there being a rainbow slide and butterfly people, and I am trying to figure out if this is the movie or not

No it isn't, Darby delt with the leprichans and no butterfly people were involved. Unfortunately, I can't help you on which movie you are thinking of.

That sounds familiar. Could it have been The Gnome-Mobile?
