I have to say without a doubt my favorite character is Darby O'Gill he is such a memorable disney character and IMO the unsung hero of the 50's disney genre. who is your favorite character?? i admit i'm 21 years old and still watch this film.

shareKing Brian reigns in my book. He has it all over Darby (and every other human) in smarts, power and resources. Despite a great deal of provocation he shows remarkable restraint in the use of that power and in his understanding of how human hearts work. He's quite charitable to Darby even if he's misguided in how he attempts it. Darby, in turn, uses him very badly--threatening him with the cat, dumping him in a sack and keeping him prisoner for days at a time.
I like the little guy. Of all the characters in Darby--or in most of the films since--King Brian remains the one I'd most like to meet and maybe have a drink with. Or possibly (if the size issue could be overcome, say by fairy magic) get in his breeches.
Agewise, I top everyone who's posted here so far. LOL And as to main character, I have to say King Brian.
