berlinger

Did you ever see an actor and wonder how the hell they made it? Warren Berlinger is one of those people. I mean really, how the hell did he get to be an actor? He's wooden, he looks like a dumb ass, he certainly can't act, and he's the same character in every movie I've ever seen with him in it. Just blows my mind. I guess nobody else was available at the time and they just said, "oh yea, give that part to Warren." Seriously, he's right up there with other non-actors of the 40s and 50s like George Raft, John Wayne, Edward G. Robinson, and James Cagney. Wooden puppets all made from the same tree.

You sound like someone who hates yourself so much, that the only way you can feel better about yourself is to put others down. It must be difficult being that miserable.

I always enjoyed watching Berlinger. He always reminded me of a real person, like the guy who lived down the block who would join us playing baseball.

"Peggy, this isn't China. There's no money in virginity."

That sounds about right. I've never had a complaint with any of his work. Obviously, the op did. He doesn't sound like a very happy individual. I've long wondered if Warren met his late wife on the set of ' Teenage Rebel '. That would be nice if it was true. She was a cutie.

reply

Betty Lou (Keim) was a cutie. I've only seen her in TEENAGE REBEL and THESE WILDER YEARS. She and Berlinger were married for close to forty years, so something was right.

Edward G. Robinson, and James Cagney

[Points at OP] Hahahahahahaha, some people. Hahahahahahahahaha. Really, those two out of all the people you could pick? The Edward G. Robinson who kicked butt in gangster films but could also play the mousey insurance guy in Double Indemnity? The Jimmy Cagney who could smash a grapefruit in a woman's face or yell "Made it ma! Top of the world" but also play a song and dance guy who does a dance down a large staircase in one take in Yankee Doodle Dandy?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Wow, some people.

I agree and don't leave out John Wayne. All three were great company to be put in. I thought Warren was much better than either Brandon DeWilde or Carol Linley.

This positively infantile preoccupation with bosoms!Terry-Thomas about US 1963.Hasnt changed much!

Love him or hate him, I just found this on Wiki:
"Nephew of comic icon Milton Berle, whose real last name was Berlinger."
