They mention the city of Thunder Bay as if it's in the United States, but in reality it's in Canada, on the north side of Lake Superior. That's across the Lake from the UP (upper peninsula of Michigan). Is anyone else wondering about that? Were the film makers confused, or am I confused?
shareIn 1959 Thunder Bay in Canada did not yet exist. In the mid sixties the cities of Port Arthur and Port William merged to form Thunder Bay years after "Anatomy of a Murder" was released.
Big Bay, Michigan, where many of the real life events in the story actually took place, was changed to Thunder Bay in the book and the movie I'm guessing for legal purposes.
TAG LINE: True genius is a beautiful thing, but ignorance is ugly to the bone.
And there is a Thunder Bay in Michigan (an actual bay by that name), by the town of Alpena.
