Great Movie
I thought this movie was great. I sat down with my dad on a Friday night with lots of popcorn & soda, and we both had such a good time watching this movie.

shareI would agree I was very pleasantly surprise with this film. I have been a huge fan of the Sci-Fi and Horror films of the 1950’s for years and this was one that I had not previously seen (which is rare) and I was thrilled with it. I did thing the beginning was much more effective and creepy all the way up until Paul makes his final transformation, the make up from that point on was a little hokey. I thought the doctor’s lab was very well arranged and the patients with the odd shaped hoods on there heads really made you want to see what was underneath.
shareI agree ! To me this is not a typical Hollywood B movie. It just has something extra that is hard to explain. Lon Chaney & Beverley Garland are very good.
I had not seen this since a little kid and it still held my attention.
Also, I viewed this through a nice DVD and sound system a the music score for this movie is great.
That is awesome!!
There is nothing better than bonding with your parents over classic film. I can relate to your story.
thanks for the posting.

The Truth is out there.
I agree,I absolutely loved it and was utterly lost in a movie - its excatly kind of sunday afternoon movie I used to watch on TV as a kid so I guess even its naivete & silly costumes at the end didnt bother me at all.Acting was very good and the whole Louisiana swamp thing was really atmospheric.Strange how movie can be classic even with not much on tehnical side and today movies are tehnicaly fascinating but empty!
shareI loved it too!! I think Beverly Garland is great.I am a fan of hers.I lucked out and got my dvd on this last Christmas at Walmart. It was a short term special.I really think this movie is under-rated.The acting was soo good, compared too todays trash. One thing that is missing in todays horror/sci fi movies over these kind of movies that where made in the 50's is the warmth, human side to humanity.Sure you cant expect all the computerized first class special effects like back then. One has to appreciate the movie(s) for what was available to the movie industry back in the 50's.I think they did so well in many movies, that even makes some of the recent movies, that should look better, cheap by comparison.I will rate this movie a 7,not for the makeup,or special effects but for the acting.
shareyeah, super cool movie, but so far i have only gotten to see part of it... hope AMC repeats soon!
shareBack then when "FAMOUS MONSTERS of FILM LAND reviewed the feature they said it was based on stories of how people who lived in and around the Swamps said they saw real Alligator People

Watching it now for the first time on the FXM channel. I love old B movies. (I'm 29 btw.)
When I was about 13 my Parents and I watched the original "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" on TV late at night. It was my first taste of old B movies. We had alot of fun watching it and I was enthralled by it. I found it very suspenseful and emotional.
No matter how dated or corny.these old movies are to me there is just something magical about them.
I loved it.

The scenes in and around the swamps were so effective. Did not seem low budget at all.

They are currently running this on MoviesTV. I didn't get to see the entire film, but found what I saw interesting. I first saw Beverly Garland in DOA filmed over 10 years before this, I believe under a different name. My first thoughts were, wow her career never amounted to much. But, she was primarily a TV star, or rather personality. But, some of the scientific jargon was mildly interesting. I couldn't help but wonder if the so called alien reptilian beings, if they exist might look like this. Then I read that people have claimed to see creatures like this around swamps, hm?
