Police Ambush

When Scott is finally cornered by police, he is being sprayed by machine gun bullets. He runs up a set of short stairs and grabs the pole bar at the end. He then swings under it to escape. Beside the fact that he should not have been able to run without sinking into the ground, or floating up into the atmosphere, the 4D Man's hands should have slipped right through the pole bar. He was still alive because he was in the 4D state. It isn't logical that he could control certain aspects of 4D and not others.

Why not?
We already saw him reach through a window, make his hand
"solid" to pick up an apple, a necklace, and a letter, then pull some
of those things out. He obviously wasn't a master of his condition,
but he had some control. Perhaps it's mostly subconcious, and
without really thinking about it he solidified his feet to go
up the stairs, his hands to grab the bars...

I think it's more implausible to say he could "drain life energy"
or time, or whatever, from people (but not objects or presumably animals).
The whole concept of changing time was probably the most
scientifically weak part of the film.
