"Twilight Zone" loses something when it's shot in color

Let's hope those helming the next reboot understand this.

reply

they are rebooting it again?

reply

Ken Levine, who was helming the latest reboot, says it may have to be scrapped.

reply

I think it doesn't matter if it's b&w or color, they simply haven't had Serling as writer/showrunner, nor found someone who has been able to replicate the tone he brought to the show... hopefully they will this time.

I didn't care for the 80's version. The updated ones really didn't cut it. Don't mess with something that is already great!
TZ Definitely LOSES something when shot in COLOR!
It also LOSES something when you try to........ whatever they were trying to do?

Watch the Black and White ORIGINALS! Black and white added to the feeling and tone. It was filmed in black and white. That's what makes this so great!

reply

It added great atmosphere. The 80s version really missed out on being really creepy by not attempting it.

So true.

reply

LOL! I think I over stressed my point of Black and White, but I do stand by what I said. πŸ˜„

My wife and I loved the 80s version!! We were just married and watched it together. Some excellent stories and acting. In our opinion, very well done series.

funny how the most recent twilight zone tv series never even gets mentioned, and it's the only version i haven't come across, every once in a while people bring up the 1980's series and movie. anyway i was just wondering if they would have had alot of fun with colours on the original 1959 series, a rather shallow question, but any regular viewer of the twilight zone would notice they often use weird camera angles, like the pilot episode and "third from the sun" for example, we all seem to agree that black and white suits twilight zone, just as you can't imagine "psycho" or "ed wood" in colour, but still you do wonder if they would have gotten real creative and had fun with colours as well to add to the mystery, i don't remember much of the 1980's series right now, but i know they really explored colours in a segment of the 1983 movie, the remake of "it's a good life" with the very good boy anthony. "the twilight zone radio dramas" brings all these episodes to colour though in your mind of course.

If Rod Serling is not involved, it's not Twilight Zone.

Period.

reply

Indeed.

reply

Be aware that some of the best TZs were ones Rod didn't write or direct.

It was his vision and he brought it to life, but once the format is laid out, other quality writers and producers can bring the same magic.

reply

Let's hope there is no reboot.

reply

I'm willing to give Jordan Peele a chance. I enjoyed "Get Out" and venture that Serling would have liked it as well.

reply

I just wish Hollywood could learn how to market something without banking on the success of someone else's product.
