"Spoiler Ahead" So did the kids in "The Bewitchin' Pool" ...

kill themselves? Was this "A Stop At Willoughby" for children?

If the children had died, their bodies would have been found in the pool (as Gart's body was found in the snow). In both cases, they went to better places. For Gart this appears to be his version of heaven, so his new body is a spirit body of sorts (although I don't think he actually intended to kill himself). The children appear to be in another dimension. The question is, will they continue aging and eventually find a way back to this dimension as adults? If they remain children forever I think they'll get pretty bored with swimming and baking cakes.

That would be interesting if they emerged from the pool twenty years later as young adults. And the current owners of the pool, who are in no way related to Jeb and Sport, wonder just the who the hell they are ...

On the surface Gart didn't want to die. But deep down I think he preferred a dirt nap to his horrible job.

Do you think the parents in "Pool" eventually gave up looking for their kids? What would they consider their kids anyway? Dead? Missing?

Yeah, staying a kid forever would be not unlike the ghastly fate of Rocky Valentine in "A Nice Place to Visit."

I don't know what conclusion the parents, themselves, will come to, but I do know that if they publicly proclaim that their kids dove into the pool and never came out, they will be eyed with great suspicion by law enforcement.

Well, these dirtbag parents are going to have to come up with an air-tight explanation for what happened to their kids soon. I imagine the school Jeb and Sport attend will inquire about their whereabouts, as will the other neighborhood kids. Come to think of it, this could shape up to be a scenario not unlike "Stranger Things"'s: A bunch of plucky neighborhood kids set out to find their friends after the authorities turn up zilch -- and eventually come to the realization Jeb and Sport are in another dimension. The Upside Down could be a stone's throw away from Aunt T. That wouldn't be good for Jeb and Sport.

I like that theory and maybe this is what have them the idea.

I think you're right. This one and probably "Little Girl Lost" and "Mirror Image" as well.
