still no answer to why the end credits in 1959 say copyright 1997

in the end of the episodes rocky asks bullwinkle if he has the credits. bullwinkle replies sure do and pulls them out (or something close to that extent) and the first line says copyright 1997. is that weird or is this just me??

It might be the year the copyright was renewed. It would reflect the new copyright date. But this is just a guess.

You're absolutely correct. It looks like it was repackaged and the copyright renewed for DVD sales and broadcast. I used to watch these when I was younger, and noticed that some of the music has changed as well.

I came by to ask the same question.

I was watching Season 1 of the Rocky And Bullwinkle And Friends DVD release. I noticed about 2 or 3 episodes said the copyright was 1997 instead of 1960 as in all the other episodes.

My guess is since these DVD's were made from repackaged syndicated content, per the R&B logo that briefly shows up in the lower right corner at the start of segments and other additions, that those few episodes had their title cards changed. The copyright indicia extends from 1 line to 2. More legalese probably to reflect the new year or copyright renewal. :)
