shareIs Laramie Public Domain or does anyone own the rights to it?
shareIt's not in the public domain, but Laramie is owned by NBC Universal TV, but don't get your hopes too high on the series coming out on DVD.
shareI know a fair number of 'Laramie' and western fans in general who would be more than interested to see this series come out on DVD. And being the process is so much cheaper than producing VHS recordings, I'm not the only one who doesn't really understand why the owners of those rights aren't jumping on the DVD bandwagon. Maybe in another two years, when the series is '50', they'll see things differently.
But I'm still curious as to what reasons they'd give against releasing the series on DVD now, especially with shows like Gunsmoke starting that process.

There's a chance that "Laramie" may make it to DVD courtesy of the Timeless Media Group, an independent DVD releasing company that's been releasing some older Westerns from the late 1950s/early 1960s that wwere produced by Revue Studios. We may see some "Laramie" episodes on DVD (officially licensed) before the end of 2008.
shareI hope so. I'd love to see the black and white ones. They've not been repeated on TV in the UK in my lifetime. Must be twenty years since the colour episodes got an airing, too.
