Any news about DVD release?
Even RAWHIDE, GUNSMOKE, BONANZA and BIG VALLEY are on DVD now, why not THE HIGH CHAPARRAL and LARAMIE?

strange, wagon train is not getting a release either
shareHI Y'ALL
RE Laramie on dvd.
Go to www.orderdvdtvshows.com and add your
e-mail address to petition for Laramie to
be digitally remastered and released on dvd.
Once they get 1000 names, they take them to
a production studio and get them to work
on it!!!!!!!
I can help you with Laramie episodes and Wagon Train episodes with Robert Fuller. Currently it is being remastered. Let me know.
shareAre you referring to the Timeless Media Group effort? If so, I purchased that, and I would hardly call it "remastered"(and it wasn't labeled as such, either). The dvds were very poor quality. If you're referring to something else that IS remastered, please tell me more.
shareUh Oh. I just purchased the TMG set, but I haven't watched it as yet.
shalgerson said it was poor quality. Oh well, that's life, I suppose.
What I did want to add is that the used prices for both sets at Amazon is actually TWICE the price as what I paid at Sam's Club. And there, the prices $29.88 for the 6 disc final season, and $19.88 for the 6 disc set called "Laramie in Color" is what they had. So there must be other seasons TMG has not released.
I'll get back after watching, and I hope I'm not too disappointed if they really are that bad.
Yep! I just checked out the quality of both TMG sets I got of Laramie. And, sure enough, the quality is bad. And for what you're paying, I've decided to return the sets I purchased from Sams Club, who had Laramie for about half the selling price at Amazon.
As a matter of fact, TMG is the same house that did that big 4-season series of M-SQUAD. The quality was bad on those, as well. And again, Sams had this series for about $49.00 where every other place I looked was about $115.00!! Critics Choice has the highest prices of all, that I've seen. But, who is going to produce remastered copies of these series'?
Anyway, good luck everyone on your next purchase(s).
While it is quite true that the DVDs from Timeless Media Group are not spectacular remasters of pristine material, I think they were more than watchable. The series was made over 50 years ago and while a lot of my generation would remember them, it would not be a high turnover item for purchase. For the likely financial return, there would never be any justification for a frame by frame remastering of these shows.
I am thankful that TMG released them at all. To the people who aren't satisfied with the quality and have returned them, thanks for making it less likely that we will see other great series of the era.
Season One is being released in a 6-disc set on March 15th, 2011. Advance word mentions it was "delayed due to poor source material", so be forewarned. You can see box artwork at classicflix.com
shareYes! Season 1 of Laramie will be released on DVD March 15th.
The episodes have been transfered from the master films so the quality of the video is excellent.
NBC finally released their msaster films of all 124 episodes for Timeless to use. A friend was sent a set of Season 1 for review and he reports that the picture on the DVDs of Season 1 is of superior quality. We can expect the same for season 2.
I've been told that if Seasons 1 & 2 sell well enough, Timeless will re-release new sets of seasons 3 & 4 using the master films.
In all fairness to Timeless, originally,it was thought that the master films of the series had been lost in the fire at Universal Studios. So, Timeless was forced to search for the best possible copies and settle for what they could find. Avid Laramie fans were grateful to get them.
It is true that they delayed releasing Seasons 1 & 2 because the source material was unacceptable. Happily this is no longer true!
Really happy with the quality of the season 1 & 2 of Laramie. These black and white episodes look and sound great. Really happy with these. Sadly as of right now we haven't got re-releases of season 3 and 4. The quality on the color season are not good, very faded and the sound is muffled. Just compare them to the release of the Virginian.
Still I am greatful to TMG for releasing them as Laramie remains one of, if not my favorite tv Western. John Smith and Robert Fuller are just spectacular as leads in this series. Makes me want to collect more Laramie memorabilia.
If they'd ever come out with remastered seasons 3 and 4 I'd have to get them.
For now I have s3 and while not the best quality, it is watchable and a keeper and will get s4 and 2 to finish my collection.
I don't know why it would be cost prohibitive to remaster s3-4 when they've done this with the Virginian and other series.
Look at what is broadcast on Grit tv, probably the same for Encore-those are remastered-excellent quality, realistic color. Wish they'd come out with that on dvd for s3 and s4.
Hear hear.
I found seasons 1 and 2 on Ebay, produced by NBC. From all the awful things I've heard about the TMG versions, I'm with you. I want the remastered versions they're showing on GRIT.
