Same plot in two episodes

"Naked Steel" (4:13) has basically the same plot device as "The Star Trail" (1:5), only in the newer episode it is Slim instead of Jess in the lead, John Doucette instead of Lloyd Nolan as the lawman, and Gloria Talbott instead of Patricia Barry as the saloon girl.

How many western plots are there anyway?

Laramie had a great way of setting up a similar situation as in a previous episode, then taking it in a completely different direction.

Don't forget that the Laramie episode was a remake of an episode of Cheyenne - "Star in the Dust", S1 Ep13, which aired May 1956. The Laramie remake aired October 1959.
