The leads were left out of the most powerful scene...
For me the most gripping moment is when Robert Ellenstein as the Rabbi, comes to Captain Green (Arthur Franz) as they are liberating the concentration camp and asks to be able to hold a religious service for all of those who have died and are near death. John Banner as a local politician tries to talk Green out of doing so, but is rebuffed in a manner that made me cheer.
Arthur Franz was sort of a good-luck charm for director Dmytryk who cast him frequently, but other than in The Sniper, this is one time where Franz more than rose to the occasion.
