I don't like that Universal is forcing us to watch the films in the 1.85 aspect ratio.
Eureka UK blu ray allows us to choose to watch the films in the 1.37 aspect ratio or 1.85. I like having the choice of aspect ratios (with different commentaries on each one). 1 movie, 5 cuts. Love it!!

reply

Agreed. I doubt I'll ever pick up the Universal blu ray solely because of it. Compare the 1.85 and 1.37 images and it's obvious it was framed for 1.37.

reply

If you don't watch the Blu-ray you will have never seen the film look as good as it can for home video. The transfer is exquisite although admittedly there is some controversy regarding the aspect ratio.

I doubt if you saw TOE in the theatre so I strongly suggest you pick up the Blu-ray.

reply

I believe it's one of those cases where it was framed to work for both: 1.85 for the theaters, and 1.37 for future broadcast on televison.
