I recognized this guy right away, as the actor who played 'The Howling Man' in that Twilight Zone episode of the same name. That was the ONLY thing interesting about this movie. But..I'm sure that if I had seen this as a kid, it would have scared the bejesus out of me! :/

shareI can tell how most of the shots with the live head are done, either by the camera placement or that they probably created/built props around the actor.
The one scene I'm wondering about is when you see the head on the tree branch. On the close ups I'm sure the rest of the actor's body is just out of frame. But what about the shots where you see the tree trunk? I don't see any way the body can be hidden there. If they spliced two takes of the scene together, then they did a pretty good job.
It might have been a carefully placed mirror... with bushes lined up off camera to relect the same sort of background as is behind the actors. I'd have to look at it again but as I recall the camera is pretty static in that scene.
