James Jones' novel "Some Came Running" is a very long and sprawling novel for today's world. I have read it twice, and feel that the screenwriters of the film cut it down very effectively which Mr. Jones' editor did not. There are a lot of extra characters in the novel which are cut back very severely in the film, and in most cases the decision is justified. I don't regret reading the novel, but prefer the motion picture.
