The ghost knocking at the door.

Everyone,
This is a new topic. I loved every aspect of this film. No secret there.
My most fascinating obsession is with that ghost knocking at the door.
Is it just me, or does that ghost knocking compel a person to respond to it, by answering the door? That knocking is so eerie, so scary!!
Does anyone else recognize this fact in the movie. Both characters answer that knocking door as if hypnotized by the knocking!!!
What do you think about the ghost knocking on that front door?

Tell me, please.

I really haven't thought of it that way. It could very well be a way to lure people to the door. You never know. I think the great thing about this film is you can draw your own conclusions to many of the situations.

I feel that both characters were scared to answer the door for they're own personal reasons.

When Jenni answers the door, we know that her sanity is being questioned by her husband, the one person who is supposed to stick with her through better or worse.

Eric is cautious because he just strangled Jenni. Clearly he doesn't want to be caught, so he is weary to answer the door.

Kitty,
I agree with you, about how this film allows the audience to draw it's own conclusions about many of the scenes in the film. I also agree about your own theories of the two main characters answering that knocking door.
But if it was me, I would have never answered that door!!
That knocking door gives me the shivers every time I watch that scene!! So scary it is, it's iconic horror at it's best!!
That's just me though!!

I agree with you. I would never answer the door either. Espesically if I was in the house by myself.
