Better than most of today's sci-fi films
If you can look past the low budget and cheesy effects, you will find that this is a fairly entertaining film. Better than a lot of the sewage coming from Hollywood these days.

shareI agree. This film was very entertaining. There was a real sincerity evident throughout that's quite refreshing and endearing in this era of cynical recycled and prepackaged overblown blockbuster bilge.
300 bios and counting.
I fully agree,I third that motion :>).I love this movie!..I have this movie on dvd and I cant tell you how many times I have re-watched this over the yr I purchased it.Its one of those movies that is so entertaining you can watch, over and over again.True,it doesnt have all the flashy special effects and gore like now.The b&w adds to the suspense and horror. If a movie is really done well, you dont need it,if the acting and the suspense is above average.I also have "alien" and I can definately see the similairity in the two.You cant go wrong if you love classic sci fi and purchase this movie.I rate this film a 8.
shareYeah the martian landscape and the rocketship look pathetic even by 1950's standards. But the plot and the suspense manage to make up for it.
shareFor the time period, the sets are pretty good, and the uniforms look nice, and surprisingly functional! A shame the women have to play housekeeper to the men, but at least no one calls them stupid or tells them to shut up -- and they don't cry or shriek like children.
Pretty good stuff.
It is a bit silly at times and very unrealistic but very entertaining. Sometimes the lack of realism is entertaining in itself. Bazooka fired in a space ship, grenades, poison gas, and so on.
shareWhy is it a shame? They're white women, they should be chained up in the kitchen and making pancakes for the real explorers!
And if they're good little girls, they don't get their mouths sewn shut.
Agreed, it's better than any Sci Fi Channel original movie.
Plotholes are like Bigfoot, people who claim to see them are just trying to stir things up.
Sci/fi channel gawd it makes me sad. I grew up seeing philly & nyc ANtenna TV. I had about 6-8 monster movies per weekend from 1966 to 1980 & I have not ever seen anything on the sci/fi channel that makes it worth more than 10 cents a year.
I remember Ed W (in Yardley circa 1967) calling me and saying "Jay, I finally saw a movie that was really scary!" Referring to this one & he was right. This was the scariest thing I saw till "Night of the Living Dead".
A hundred times better story and atmosphere than anything Sci-Fi channel has produced.

I have to say interesting premise but it did leave me easily bored.
Its that man again!!
