I don't understand why the kids were so upset they were getting married

I don't know if I missed something or what...The kids had been having fun with her and I thought they would be thrilled to have her as mother. The only one that made much sense to me was the little girl who was worried about where she was going to sleep

It wasn't clear at all. They seemed to like her. Maybe it was because their mother had died too recently and they weren't quite ready for their dad to remarry.
