What Bogey said

First off, I should like to say I didn't think much of this film, but I am a big, huge fan of Bacall and will watch anything she is in; I think she is gorgeous and very talented and one of my favourite actresses all time.

I didn't like it, it was a simple soap opera film. And all I kept thinking of was the fact that i had read in her autobiography By Myself (a book I encourage everyone to read) that Bogey had warned her not to do too many soap opera like films. And that was after she finished Written in the Wind, which is a great film!

Just thought it was funny is all. Still, that last shot of Lauren walking away from the screen...she's like an angel.

I suspect Bacall made the film for financial reasons. She also stated in "By Myself" that Bogie hadn't left her as well off as everyone assumed.

It's been years since I've seen it, but I remember it was quite a tear-jerker.

I could see how Ms. Bacall would relate to the theme of the loss of a parent, since this was filmed not too long after Bogey's death.
