Any official vinyl soundtrack releases for the 7 hammer dracula films ?
Anyone knows if the 7 hammer dracula films got an official vinyl O.S.T release ever ?
I think there were two vinyl Lp's released in the 70's. One was a compilation of tracks from the various Hammer Dracula films and the other was a soundtrack (with Narration by Peter Cushing) of Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires.
shareStrange as it may seem, despite numerous re-recordings of the score which are readily available (such as the one mentioned) there has never been an actual recording of the soundtrack from HOD released.
Hammer has been sporadically releasing very fine monaural CDs, remastered from the archival scoring masters, from several of the Hammer Horrors including the later Dracula pictures. There is a compilation on that label featuring Main Title music from most of the Hammer Horrors, as well as one disc devoted to the assorted Draculas and another to the sundry Frankensteins.
To date, however, no soundtrack has been released for either Horror of Dracula, Curse of Frankenstein or (the one I'm waiting for) Edwin Astley's outstanding take on Phantom of the Opera.
FYI: despite being one of the most easily recognizable and famous scores of all time, there has never been a legitimate OST issued for Bernard Herrmann's PSYCHO, either. Hundreds of re-recordings, one or two middle-quality bootlegs, but never an authorized commercial release. Somebody missed the boat there...
